Vibhu Foundation celebrates Shankara Jayanti
On 21st April 2026, Shankara Jayanti was celebrated at the Vibhu Kuteera. 25-30 people participated in the event.
Shankara Jayanti is very special to a student of Vedanta! It is a day to commemorate the birth Anniversary of the great 8th century saint Adi Shankaracharya. He revived Hindu philosophy at a time when Hinduism was on a decline due to the differences among its various traditions.
Shankaracharya unified these traditions by highlighting and weaving together their common threads – rejuvenating the wisdom of the Vedas. He taught Advaita Vedanta (theory of non-dualism) which states that the individual soul and the ultimate reality (Brahman) are one, and Self realisation or Moksha is the goal of life.
The program started at 9:30 a.m. with Shankaracharya Pooja which comprised the following:
1.Guru Stotram
2.Guru Paduka Stotram
3.Purush Suktam
4.Sri Shankaracharya Ashtotram Shat Namavali – Swamiji read & students repeated
5.Offering dhoop, deep, naivedya
6.Aarti with Aarti Mantra for Sanyasins
7 Totaka Ashtakam
8.Again Aarti
9.Bhajans
10.Pooja ending with Asatoma sadgamaya…
The pooja was followed by Shankara Bhashya Parayanam.
With so many people chanting aloud together, the atmosphere at Vibhu Kuteera got charged!
Thereafter Swamiji addressed the gathering talking about Adi Shankaracharya’s life and his unparalleled contribution to Advaita Vedanta Shashtra.
The program concluded with Brahmacharini Gitanjali ji’s address where she spoke about Adi Shankaracharya’s great works.
Prasada was distributed thereafter.
Mantras and shlokas reverberating in the air, Guru’s voice echoing in the ear and the sanctity of the place produced happiness, peace and oneness. The devotees went back with memories of a beautiful experience looking forward to the next event!
